Sex Sells and ChatGPT Says AI Sex Sells Too

OpenAI will soon roll out a new version of ChatGPT, providing erotica for age-verified users. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman say the company will “treat adult users like adults”.

Critics are not fond of this idea even though there are already plenty of adult AIs out there. They point out that age verification systems are not great (they are not) and the long term consequences of people forming intimate relationships with a computer model are not great.

Altman continues to say that OpenAI isn’t the morality police. He CLAIMS that ChatGPT will be the equivalent of R-rated movies.

Is he sure it is going to be R and not X?

He said that not only it is going to be R-rated but it will open up other adult areas (TBD what that means, I guess).

But what is the real goal here? Is it to serve up AI porn? Maybe, but probably not really.

It is to make money. A lot of money. Sam wants the company to make a boatload of money.

And people know that sex sells – ask any advertiser.

So how does Sam make money from AI porn?

Mostly by selling your data. That is the road to profitability.

So you become intimate with his virtual porn and you tell it stuff. You confide in your computer screen. Yes, I know it sounds weird and personally, I think it is weird, but people are doing it now.

Once that happens, the AI will “encourage” you to open up even more, sharing more personal information. Possibly juicy information which someone could use to blackmail you (another revenue stream but one I hope Sam doesn’t go for) that guaranteed others will monetize.

But even if all it does is make you spend more time talking to your phone, it is going to collect, potentially, a lot more data about you. A LOT MORE.

Spies know how this works. They are masters at trading sex for information. That has been going on for centuries.

Obviously the first use for your data will be to train up the AI. Okay, relatively benign. The quicker the sexbot becomes addictive, the quicker Sam’s bank account grows – both at a corporate and personal level.

Using sexbot data to sell you ads is the “glass half full” side of the conversation.

The “glass half empty” view is that they could – and likely will – sell the data to law enforcement to allow law enforcement and other government agencies to build super detailed profiles of you. If you think that won’t happen, contact me. I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I would like to sell you.

If you talk to your sexbot in Texas about getting an abortion in Texas, which is pretty much illegal, will law enforcement come arrest you? If you talk to your sexbot there about helping a friend get an abortion in Texas, which is separately also illegal, will some private citizen who bought the data sue you and get a prize of $10,000 from the state of Texas? I could see this turning into a cottage industry in states where abortion is illegal and bounties are part of the law.

And, of course, you always have to worry about your conversations getting hacked and becoming public. I am sure Sam will personally and financially guarantee that will never happen. Note: see the comment above about a bridge for sale.

Given that there is a lot of money potentially available to Sam and his friends, this WILL happen, but don’t say we didn’t warn you. Credit: Cybernews

UPDATE: We are just hearing about the first **KNOWN** federal search warrant asking OpenAI, the same company that wants to release sexbots, for user data. In this case, Homeland Security is trying to figure out the identity of a darkweb user who uses ChatGPT. While Google has turned over data, the “richness” of the data that ChatGPT might have is, potentially, much more incriminating. Credit: Forbes
