Household Item Proved Husband Was Cheating

People who suspect their partner of cheating usually use traditional methods to figure out whether their suspicion is real – like looking at their phone calls, text messages and emails. Sometimes they even hire a PI to follow their spouse. Suspicion is aroused when the spouse has new habits like paying more attention to personal hygiene.

But in this day and age, you have another method to figure out if your spouse is cheating.

In a case a few years ago prosecutors wanted Amazon to turn over Echo recordings in a murder case. Initially Amazon refused citing privacy concerns but the suspect said it was okay, so they turned the evidence over. They also said the hot water heater, which was Internet connected, showed an excessive amount of water used. Neither of these would convict him, but they are circumstantial evidence to support the cops’ theory of the murder. Credit: CNN

In this case, it was a toothbrush. The toothbrush was also Internet connected and tracked each family member’s brushing habits. It said, in this case, the husband was brushing his teeth when he should have been a work. It showed him brushing during the day on Fridays. Turns out he was not working on Fridays, except in the bedroom with his lover, when his wife and kids were out of the house.

So what is the moral (interesting choice of words)?

  1. Don’t cheat on your partner.
  2. If you do cheat, don’t use smart appliances!
  3. Repeat #1.

Because one thing that is a given is that smart tech is watching. And listening. And the data never goes away. Credit: UK Mirror
