RedLine Malware Shows Why Passwords Should not be Saved by Browsers

RedLine is malware that is specifically designed to steal passwords stored in Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera.

Hackers can buy the software for about $200 on hacker forums and it can be deployed without much skill required.

It does require the hacker to have access to your system, but beyond that, not much else is needed.

Chromium browsers store passwords in a file called login data and while the data is encrypted, the system will happily decrypt the data for malware, since the malware is logged in as the same user.
