Microsoft released a patch for a remote code execution bug that affects IE 9 and 11 and Microsoft Edge.
Even though no one uses IE any more, it is still installed on most Windows systems and Edge is installed on almost all systems.
All the hacker needs to do is get the user to visit a malicious web site and they own the user’s system.
The hacker gets the victim’s permissions. If the user is an admin, so is the hacker.
This is only one of the 89 vulnerabilities patched this week; 14 of which are rated critical.
ONLY ONE PROBLEM. THERE ARE REPORTS THAT THE MARCH PATCH RELEASE CAN CAUSE BLUE SCREENS OF DEATH ASSOCIATED WITH NETWORK PRINTING. TESTING IS IN ORDER. PERHAPS SELECTIVE PATCHING MAY BE REQUIRED.
