How Fast Can You Deploy Patches?

Remember the old days when we believed in the 24/72 rule? That would be like last year.

The 24/72 rule said that you had 24 hours to patch zero day flaws and 72 hours to patch other flaws?

That is the old days.

According to Palo Alto Networks attackers were scanning for vulnerable Exchange servers 5 minutes after the announcement that were were four zero days in Exchange.

In general, hackers were trying to exploit flaws in 15 minutes.

That sort of represents a problem for enterprises.

You can certainly hope that hackers don’t come after you on any given day. Or you can up your game.

While it is highly unlikely you can deploy patches in 15 minutes, you can detect unusual behavior.

It is time to up your game.
