Every now and then we have a simple alert.
Dell Power Manager is a tool included on Dell systems to allow users to configure power management settings on that system.
A bug in the software before version 3.17 allows an attacker to elevate their permissions and execute arbitrary code. Simple as that. The attacker does need to have some form of foothold on the system, so as long as you are confident that there is no way for anyone to run malicious code on a system, such as an authorized user who is socially engineered to do so, you are good.
The rest of us need to install version 3.17 of Dell Power Manager now.
